How EVEPC got started and what it is now

Six years ago, EVEPC began as just an idea, a concept, an experimental approach of looking at a cyclist’s form and technique on a bicycle. How could I deliver movement analysis that went beyond the traditional bike fitting process?

At its core, the concept was about really looking at an athlete in motion and discussing their concerns, goals, their personality as a cyclist and their relationship to the sportUsing a high speed still and motion photography method called “capture,” I was able to assess a rider’s position and form on a bicycle; I was "capturing" an athlete in motion, not just obtaining numbers or referencing data points.

What I discovered was that my experience as a lifelong cyclist and former bike racer gave me inherent insight and expertise that I could share with others and help them—not only to improve their form on the bike, but to achieve success and meet goals they had laid out in their pursuits as an athlete.

The experience of coming to the studio and getting “captured” allowed me to get to know these riders as athletes, and as peopleInspired by the cyclists I was meeting, I gathered a small group of professionals to help me hone the Eric Vigil Elite Pro Capture process: riders, trainers and coaches helped me work with cyclists of all ages, types, and levels of abilities. It became apparent that what I was capturing was not limited to position and form on a bicycle. I was witnessing that elusive thing that drives each of us to keep reaching. Pushing. Breaking through. I was documenting passion.

In 2015 I began working with these unique athletes called Triathletes…

Hyper driven and super talented, these athletes only care about their “split time" and have no fear of being “in the red”, or even being wheeled off in an ambulance after the race. They have to develop and train in three disciplines, which makes the cycling aspect of their sport unique, as well.

By selecting a few riders to work with individually throughout a race season, I was able to address their unique discipline. Controlling their progression and designing custom services and techniques based on their individual abilities and goals, these athletes became my EVEPC “bicycle pilots.”

As airplane fighter pilots don’t simply “fly” a plane, EVEPC bicycle pilots are no longer just riding a bike; they are "piloting" very high performance equipment and pushing the limits of their abilities.

EVEPC bicycle pilots are a direct result of my process and vision. After working with these athletes throughout the year, I realized we weren’t just working on form and technique on a bicycle. I was educating them on equipment, providing training plans, race support, monitoring their progress, and helping them with opportunities to elevate and perform at a higher level as a cyclist

With that realization, Eric Vigil Elite Pro Capture developed organically into Eric Vigil Elite Performance Cycling
